Meet Winnie W. Wong founder of Wonder Wong PR & Communications
(Voting member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television)

Winnie began her film and television career as a Production Secretary, then quickly moved on to the Assistant Director department in the Film, Television, Music Video and Commercial Industries. For many years she assisted two of Canada’s great directors, Norman Jewison and David Cronenberg.
Winnie managed and strategised numerous publicity and communications campaigns. Her recent projects include the unit publicity, launch publicity and social media maintenance of CBC Gem's original HELLO (AGAIN) created by Simu Liu (Marvel’s SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS) and Nathalie Younglai (The CW and CBC's CORONER). Along with the marketing and grassroots initiative for the Canadian theatrical release of queer Indigenous filmmaker Gail Maurice’s award-winning feature film ROSIE (TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten). As well as, handling the Berlinale Teddy Award winner NELLY & NADINE at the Hot Docs International Film Festival.

Winnie has also handled publicity for the Toronto Jewish Film Festival from 2019-2022 and the Regent Park Film Festival. Along with managing the company launch publicity and communications campaign for the newly formed animation house Crooked City Studios with the award-winning Solis Animation and the Juno-nominated internationally celebrated rock band Rare Americans. Winnie oversaw and managed the publicity and social media campaign for the Toronto-based renowned theatre company VideoCabaret’s remount of THE COLD WAR.
Winnie has produced many special events and red carpets including the Firecracker Department TIFF Red Carpet in 2020 and 2021, as the head producer. She was also the head producer of 90+ FIRECRACKER DEPARTMENT WITH NAOMI SNIECKUS podcast episodes.
